Carlo Muscat’s eighth album as a leader features a series of original compositions recorded in Kyiv under wartime conditions. With a Ukrainian ensemble, Muscat presents a repertoire largely centred on ballads, characterised by lyricism, space, and harmonic detail. Recorded amid air-raid sirens and power outages, the album reflects a focused, measured approach and a contemporary engagement with the ballad form.
